This is a series of articles where I talk about the circumstances and procedures we followed while adding a certain feature to SupportFinity platform.
In this article, I will talk about the journey of implementing the tags feature.
Why this feature?
Throughout the hiring process, a Recruiter or a Hiring Manager always goes through viewing many applications, during that, he/she will need to remember many aspects about some candidates, especially the ones that have a potential to or will continue to next steps.
For example, a candidate could have a secondary skill that is a nice to have, a given impression after a screening call, a certificate, a merit, or whatever reason a tag can be used for.
If you are a Recruiter or a Hiring Manager, you would need to make sure that you know how to retrieve back this piece of information anytime later. Here when the tags feature can be helpful.
How we did it?
Assigning a tag to any candidate should be very easy, quick, clear and simple to retrieve, not just to the tag assigner but to the whole hiring team who will use it.
Our dashboard is structured as a detailed explorer view where the candidate’s quick card is on the left side containing the essential information about the candidate and a placeholder of next hiring steps, the candidate’s application is on the right containing full details.
To enhance both the visibility and the usability of the tags feature, we agreed that it should be shown on both the candidate’s card and the candidate’s application as in the screen shots below.
Space management is always a challenge. In order to optimize space usage, we agreed to create a button to expand and collapse tags. This way, it will be easier to navigate when too many tags are added (on both mobile and desktops).
How you can use it?
Adding a tag
Tagging an applicant has been designed to be super handy and usable.
1- Tap on +Add tag button
2- Type your tag, then press enter
3- The tag will be assigned to the candidate and appear on the candidate’s card too
We have designed the tags also to be reusable anytime, so whenever you add a new tag, it will be shown to you in a drop-down list.
Searching for a candidate with a tag
From the AI-powered search bar, just type the tag or see it from a list of used tags and you will see the candidate’s who have been assigned with this tag, it should be something like the screen shot below.
